The program provides summer (six weeks, Monday to Friday) research opportunities to Maine high school juniors in host institutions across the state. Students who are interested in STEM fields and would like to experience “real-time” applications of STEM in a research-focused work world, conducting research and technology development, should apply. Available for Maine High School juniors who are interested in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). A paid internship through the MERITS program. Students experience ‘real-time’ applications of STEM at various Maine host institutionsconducting hands-on research and technology
development.

Use the following checklist to be certain that all requested information has been completed. Make a copy of all information for your personal records. Submit the original Application Form to the address indicated below.
A completed Maine Space Grant Consortium (“MSGC”) MERITS Program application package includes forms and documentation for the following nine (9) areas
E-Mail the completed application package to Jana Hall at jana.hall@msgc.org, by January 31, 2023. Do not fax the package. All forms/documents should be included in one package to be submitted in either Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf format.
Teacher recommendation forms should be submitted directly by the teachers.
Applications will not be processed unless they are complete and all materials have been received.
Applications will be disqualified if all required materials are not submitted by the due date.

For TEACHERS: MERITS Teacher Recommendation Form
Students must be U.S citizens, residents of Maine and must be enrolled at a Maine school tor homeschooled and a resident of Maine.
• Completion of student’s junior year in high school by June 30, 2023
• Demonstrated interest in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
• Some experience with the use of computer applications
• GPA equivalent of an A
