About

CPF’s Education Department has operated interdisciplinary environmental education programs in schools and parks since 1992. Coastal Classroom focuses on coastal ecology, water quality, urban waterfront restoration and preservation in Hallets Cove, Long Island City (Queens) and in Kaiser Park, Coney Island (Brooklyn). This summer, the Coastal Classroom Summer Intensive and Summer Groups Programs will engage middle school students in coastal ecology and maritime training. Throughout July, summer camps visit weekly for science and service-learning and our Summer Intensive extends through the first week in August. Throughout the summer, site-specific inquiry-based lessons for all students plus trips to coastal areas and organizations for Intensive students will provide stimulating and meaningful learning experiences for young students.

CPF has developed this new fellowship opportunity for talented students, to gain hands-on experience and explore the environmental education sector while helping to promote environmental stewardship of our waterways and coastal areas. Selected interns will gain valuable work experience, put their knowledge and skills to practice while learning at the same time and will get paid.
