At Tufts, our Pre-College Programs offer ambitious high school students the opportunity to learn from renowned faculty and experience a rigorous academic environment at a leading higher education institution.
This program is designed to provide students with a chance to immerse themselves in the Undergraduate experience, allowing highly motivated students to engage in their own academic interests and develop their own ideas. The program mixes college-level study with fun activities and the opportunity to build college and life skills. Balancing engaging academic seminars, with expert-led College Prep workshops and social activities, the Tufts Summer Accelerator will help students develop a clear vision for their future areas of study and potential career paths.
Students enroll in 2 college-level seminars per 2-week session, designed specifically for high school students. These seminars are small (15-20 student), discussion based, interactive sessions in subject areas from across the University. Seminars will be offered in a broad range of topics - from neuroscience to criminal justice reform - and are taught by Tufts faculty and graduate students doing real, cutting edge research in those areas of study. Students in the Tufts Summer Accelerator will gain experience with the excitement, freedom, and challenge of academics at a top-tier higher education institution. Students may enroll in 1 or 2 two-week sessions (sessions run in consecutive two-week spans).
Program Format
Monday through Thursday, students will participate in 2 hour morning and afternoon seminars. Between these seminars, students will have time for lunch, which will include opportunities to hear exciting guest speakers and to participate in other enrichment activities. After the conclusion of the afternoon seminar, Accelerator students will join other residential Pre-College students for fun social activities. On Fridays, students will participate in our College Prep workshops and visit Boston area colleges and universities.
